Forty-five minutes later, the contents of my suitcase are either put away or in the laundry basket, and I’m standing at the edge of my side of the bed wearing one of Jake’s huge shirts. I look at the mess on his side, and see that mine remains mostly untouched. I notice that my pillow is all wrinkled and lumpy, lying vertically down the middle of the bed.

I don’t know what it is about the gesture that feels so incredibly tender, but I smile when I realize that he’s been holding it while he sleeps. The very sad thing is that this is the closest I’ve felt to him in months.

In my opinion, it’s a must read. It’s amazing. Soft, beautiful, unhurried, timid, cute… sweet and romantic. About… coming to life. About a woman who had problems, but really… had none. And about a man, who struggled and kept everything within himself. About finding, opening up and moving forward and onward. About love. Simple.

~ Incredible, beautiful story by an amazing author. I was savouring every word, every chapter, and I’d gladly read 18 more, but stories like this always end too fast. Which is probably for the better. When I was on chapter 8, I think, I added this fic to my must read’s, and I never do that, before I finish the story. This is about life. Death. Struggle. Art. Inspiration. Courage and will. Love and partnership. You must read it. ~

It sounded, even to my own ears, like something a human would say about a prospective pet, not something they would say about a prospective friend. This only confirmed in my mind that I needed to befriend a human…a person. This Edward guy seemed like the best bet. We had to sit together every day and would be forced to talk. He would make an excellent guinea pig for this human interaction experiment. No, not a guinea pig. Guinea pigs were pets. I was already failing.

Edward was interrupted from his musing when a door opened and the nurse called, “Isabella Swan.” Curious, he craned his neck as discreetly as he could.

Isabella Swan turned out to be a petite woman with long brown hair and, well, a very nice ass. She turned, right before she walked through the door the nurse was holding open. She was, in Edward’s estimation, very pretty. Her smile was shy as she looked back at her male companion, as if for encouragement. Then she was gone.

It didn’t occur to Edward until a few seconds later that his breath had caught in his throat, and then he was choking and gasping for air.

Even though at the beginning it’s really unfamiliar and just… different I assure you you’ll get into it by the second or third chapter and be hooked till the very end.
